Aris Limassol vs Omonoia 29 M (Cyprus K-19 Cablenet Championship 23/24)
Final Score: Aris 2-2 Omonoia 29 M
My first competitive match overseas, making my debut for Aris Limassol u19’s. I was very thrilled to be making my first start as I have trained and worked for several months overseas to get to that point. A sudden increase in temperature in Limassol made for a hotter Saturday of football than expected, however I started the match at left centre-back in a 4-2-3-1 formation, and played 45 minutes. I had a good game, and was very positive on the ball, being able to advance our possession up the pitch and take some risks to benefit the team. I was confident and composed on the ball and felt my contributions helped the team during the match. My communication and talk was bilingual, demanding, and constructive as I helped and supported my teammates as well as being the loudest on the pitch. I was defensively sound and did well dealing with the pacey striker we were warned we were up against. I was physical, communicated and was simple in defence with several challenges and clearances as needed. A small detail that I’ll improve on was getting dragged out to another player and leaving space behind, however there was a cumulation of errors and a lack of effort that led me into that position that are avoidable and easily fixed within the squad. Overall I’m happy with my performance, and will continue to improve my match fitness and understanding within the team.
