U20 Round 8 (ML1): Mounties Wanderers FC vs Blacktown Spartans FC

Final Score: Mounties 2 - 4 Spartans

A slow start to the game for me as I started and played a full 90 minutes at left-back. The opposition came out very strong and aggressive with their press and applied lots of pressure, eventually paying large dividends for them as they put 3 past us 30mins into the game. An unfortunate free-kick goal and 2 other goals were poor to concede, however we brought one back before the break and hoped to carry the momentum. I felt very good in the second half and put in a very strong performance, but not enough to lead to team to a draw or victory. I had a willingness and desire to win that wasn’t matched by the majority of the team and I was physical, and also helped create the second goal with good 1-on-1 skills and footwork. I had a very good second half but being in left-back, its hard to influence the game to an extent of winning apart from being loud and thorough with my communication which I did through the game. A tough loss but nothing to feel sorry for.
