U20 Round 3 (ML1): Northern Tigers FC vs Mounties Wanderers FC

Final Score: Tigers 0 - 1 Mounties

An unusual game today, the weather having a large control of the outcome of the match. We opened the scoring in the opening 10 minutes with a good counter-attacking goal after a strong and fast start. In the 15th minute the game was brought to a pause because of weather precautions, the referees keeping the clocks running which meant the rest of the first half was put to bed whilst we waited in the changerooms. The second half was played to its full extent and the game remained at the same score of 1-0 until the final whistle. On an individual note, I played well and performed my role well at left-fullback, and partially right-fullback for the entirety of the match. I was very solid defensively and convincingly won my duel against either winger I faced, being strong on the floor and aerially. In possession I wasn’t as involved as usual as we played a more direct game. I tried getting forward a few times but only led to some attacking advancement, no major chances. After winning the ball at the back, I played the ball out several times to release a counter-attack however nothing ensued from them.
