U18 (YL2) & U20 Round 15 (ML1): St George FC vs Mounties Wanderers FC
U18 Final Score: St George 2 - 1 Mounties
U20 Final Score: St George 2 - 0 Mounties
A double gameday against my former club and teammates. I was asked to help-out for the 18’s and I played 70 minutes at centre-back and dominated the game. I was dominant with physicality, in possession I was composed and was constantly communicating and anticipating play. The one goal the team conceded while I was on the pitch was from a corner which should’ve been a foul. All-in-all it was a resounding individual performance and I did everything I could to help the team score a goal as well as not letting them have a chance at scoring.
I started in the 20’s game and played left back for 60 minutes. The opposition was a very strong team and we conceded in the second minute. The score remained 1-0 for the large majority of the game. Individually I was good enough in defence and did well with the tired legs I had. I became comfortable and felt confident on the ball as I got a meg, and made good attacking dribbles to advance our play up the pitch, ending them with a good pass. My work rate was high as it could be as I pushed myself throughout the time I was on, my legs burning when sprinting into an attack then having to recover defensively. I performed well but was limited physically becuase I had played a game beforehand, and I eventually came off in the 60th minute after getting cramps in either leg. The game finished 2-1 with a late equaliser scored by my team in the 84th before an even later winner was scored by St George in the 86th minute to seal their win.
Overall a good day of football for me and I was happy with how I played given the circumstances at hand.
