U18 Trial Match 2: St George FC vs Hakoah FC

The second game of preseason.

St George FC 0 - 3 Hakoah FC

Game Performance

In this game I played left centre-back in a 1-3-4-2-1 formation. The first 10 minutes saw the opposition of Hakoah FC go 2-0 ahead after 2 early mistakes whilst our team was in possession, where they counter attacked quickly from both mistakes and were clinical in finishing their chances. The game continued where both teams began testing each others defences. In possession, we looked to play out of the back and were working the opposition in order to advance the play. After slowly progressing up the field, I looked to make passes through the oppositions lines of defence by passing up to the left wingback, into our 2 central and playing a lob through ball over to the striker to get in behind the opposition high defensive line, one of our biggest goal scoring chances of the game. My passing and decision making was very good on the ball, alongside my demanding communication to my teammates.

In defence I was good at delaying the oppositions attacks, supported other teammates, didn’t allow opposing attackers to turn and face our goal, was being physical in tackles and being able to regain possession and restart our possession phase. Throughout the whole game, I was communicating with the back line and whole team to stay organised in our defensive shape.

Overall aside from the final result, I had a very confident and commanding game, with good decision making in possession and out of possession and lots of communication.
